OPP LAY SEVERAL CHARGES FOLLOWING REPORT OF COLLISION
On January 17, 2022 shortly after 6:30 p.m. officers from the Bancroft OPP responded to the report of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 62 in the Municipality of Hastings Highlands. The driver and vehicle left prior to police attending the scene.
Investigation revealed that the involved vehicle had been previously reported to police in another area as stolen.
Officers later located the vehicle and suspect in the Town of Bancroft.
Timothy O’Brien a 33-year-old of Waterloo has been charged with the criminal offences of:
- Theft of motor vehicle – two counts
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 – two counts
- Flight from peace officer – two counts
- Dangerous operation
- Fail to comply with undertaking
The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville, Ontario on January 18, 2022 in relation to the criminal charges.
