Station Street may soon see more rental units available to the public.
The City of Belleville’s Planning Advisory Committee has given the green light to two zoning by-law amendment applications for separate apartment buildings on Station Street.
The first, a six-storey mixed use building at 135 Station St. was originally proposed to be a mix between 103 affordable rental units and commercial space.
A new application put forth seeks to add an additional 30 affordable rental units to the building while reducing parking and commercial space.
The building is already under construction and if given council approval will add the additional units.
The second proposal is for a four-storey building featuring four rental units at 151 Station St.
The land is currently vacant but being used by a neighbouring car dealership.
The committee approved both rezoning applications and they will be forwarded for council approval at a future meeting.
