The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating following an incident involving a Lennox and Addington OPP officer in Stone Mills Township.
Late Monday morning, OPP responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had barricaded himself in a home on Holden Road.
The man exited the home carrying a firearm and one of the officers fired his Anti-Riot Weapon Enfield or ARWEN at the man.
He was then subdued by a police dog, apprehended by officers under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital.
The man was not seriously injured.
The SIU mandate was invoked because the ARWEN is classified as a firearm.
The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation, including video or photos, to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online at: https://siu.on.ca/en/appeals.php
