In its first report since Christmas Eve, Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reported 448 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday and one more death due to the virus.
There have been 19 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Active cases are up to 649 though 298 cases are considered recovered since the last report.
Sixty percent of the new cases are double vaccinated with 17% partially vaccinated and 23% unvaccinated.
Breaking down cases by age, the 18 to 29 age group had the most new cases with 83.
There are 41 cases among those 12 to 17 and 56 cases are age 11 and under.
The Public Health dashboard shows hospitalizations increased by five to thirteen.
Five people are in the Intensive Care Unit, up one.
The number of outbreaks remains at 33, however Public Health noted last week that it is now only reporting new outbreaks in high-risk settings including schools, long-term care facilities, hospitals and congregate living settings.
Eighty-six percent of HPE residents aged five and up have received one dose of a COVID vaccine and 79% have received two doses.
Over the last seven days, 12,808 residents have received a third dose booster shot.
The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit reported 56 new cases in Northumberland Wednesday.
There are now 288 active cases there.
