Domestic Dispute
On December 25, 2021 at 4:45 p.m., Belleville police were called to a Sidney Street residence regarding a domestic dispute. Police were informed that neighbours could hear a female yelling for someone to call the police. Officers arrive on scene and spoke with a male outside the residence. The male was visibly intoxicated and argumentative with police. The male was taken into custody for pubic intoxication and later released to a family member once he was sober.
Break and Enter
On December 26, 2021 at 1:26 a.m., police were called to an apartment complex in the area of Station and Albion streets for a Break and Enter in progress. The suspect was described as a male in his thirties, approximately 5’10” and wearing a brown coat and white hat. Officers arrived on scene and located the male inside the building. He was arrested for trespassing and brought to Belleville Police Service. Further investigation revealed that there was no damage done to the property and nothing was taken by the male. The 22-year-old Belleville resident was charged with Enter Premise when entry prohibited and later released.
Theft/Fraud
On December 26, 2021at 2:02 p.m., police were called to a North Front Street fitness club for a theft of a wallet. The victim was using the fitness club between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. when his wallet was taken from a locker. After further investigation officers learned the victim’s credit card was used at a local gas station that had video footage of the suspect using the credit card. The suspect was identified as 44-year-old Belleville, resident Edward Pond. Pond was later located and arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, fraud under $500, theft of a credit card and fail to comply with a release order. Pond was later released with a court date of February 10.
Fail to Stop
On December 27, 2021 at 5:02 a.m., police were southbound on Cannifton Road when they observed an older model vehicle going north on Cannifton road with no head lights on. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, however it proceeded through a red light and then went east on the 401 at a high rate of speed. Officers followed the vehicle onto the 401 in an attempt to obtain a licence plate however, the suspect vehicle’s speed was in excess of 150 km/hr and no plate was obtained. The vehicle was driven by a lone male driver who was wearing a black baseball cap. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Belleville Police at 613-966-0882.
