Quinte Health Care is not expecting a significant increase in patient volumes due to a planned closure of the Campbellford Memorial Hospital Emergency Room on Christmas Eve.
The Campbellford Hospital is closing its ER from 5 p.m. Christmas Eve to 7:30 a.m. Christmas morning due to what officials call staffing difficulties.
QHC spokesperson Catherine Walker tells Quinte News they don’t expect a significant increase in patient volumes since those volumes from Campbellford will be dispersed across QHC’s Belleville and Trenton sites, as well as hospitals in Cobourg and Peterborough.
Walker says staffing shortages are province wide, including at QHC, but they are working to do their part to support each other as one united health care system to meet an unprecedented demand.
