The Campbellford Memorial Hospital will be temporarily shutting down its emergency department on Christmas Eve.
In a press release Wednesday representatives of CMH announced that, due to “difficulties in staffing this essential service” they will be shutting down the emergency department from 5 p.m. Christmas eve until 7:30 a.m. Christmas Day.
During the closure, ambulances will bring patients to the nearest hospital offering emergency medical services if necessary.
Also in the release, CMH President and CEO Eric Hanna said that the hospital is continuously reevaluating strategies to retain and recruit staff members.
Anyone in need of urgent emergency care should instead go to one of:
- Northumberland Hills Hospital, 1000 DePalma Drive, Cobourg
- Quinte Healthcare Corporation – Trenton Memorial Hospital, 242 King Street, Trenton
- Quinte Healthcare Corporation – Belleville General Hospital, 265 Dundas Street East, Belleville
- Peterborough Regional Health Centre, 1 Hospital Drive, Peterborough.
