Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health says there is currently a limited supply of the Pfizer vaccine so it is prioritizing those doses for individuals 18 to 29 years of age.
However, there is a steady supply of the Moderna vaccine so adult clinics will continue to run at full capacity.
A shipment cancellation has impacted the availability of the Pfizer vaccine so it is being prioritized for the 18 to 29 age group to follow provincial guidelines which recommends Pfizer for that age group to reduce risk for pericarditis or myocarditis.
Officials encourage all individuals to take advantage of their appointment for their booster dose regardless of the vaccine offered as it is safe to mix vaccines.
There are no supply issues with the Pfizer vaccine dose for children 5 to 11 years of age so those clinics are continuing as scheduled.
HPEPH says vaccination clinics will continue to run at full capacity in the region and appointments can be booked through the provincial booking site, or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at 1-833-943-3900 from 8 am to 8 pm, 7 days a week.
