The Prince Edward CountyOPP has recently welcomed two officers to the County.
Provincial Constable Ethan Barink has aspired to be a police officer for quite some time. He has worked as a Provincial Park Warden at Sandbanks Provincial Park for the last four years. Ethan was an Auxiliary Constable with the Quinte West Detachment for four years and also brings previous military service time with him. He feels privileged to be working in Prince Edward County.
Provincial Constable Michael Draaistra often visited the County having grown up not far away in the town of Brighton. He even got his first deer while hunting near Huycks Point Road. Before joining the OPP Michael attended the University of Ottawa where he graduated with a degree in Criminology and Psychology. After this he spent one year working for Bayfield Treatment Centre in Consecon before getting hired by Highland Shores Children’s Aid Society where he spent about five years working as a child protection worker. Michael hopes to bring his past learning and experience to serve Prince Edward County in a respectful and informed way.
