There were another 35 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday in Hastings Prince Edward but there has been a dramatic drop in the number of active outbreaks.
While active cases are up to 255, the Hastings Prince Edward Public Health dashboard shows the number of ongoing outbreaks is down to 18 from 29 on Tuesday.
Outbreaks at Queen Elizabeth School, Holy Name of Mary Catholic School and Shoeless Joes are among those declared over as well as a community outbreak in Trenton that was responsible for 30 cases.
As far as Wednesday’s new cases, seven of them are under the age of 12.
The majority of new cases, 21, are fully vaccinated with another two partially vaccinated.
Twelve are unvaccinated.
Ten people are in hospital with seven currently in the ICU.
First doses of a COVID vaccine have been delivered to 85% of HPE residents aged five and up while 78% have received two doses.
In Northumberland on Wednesday, six new cases were reported by the Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit.
Twenty-one cases are active.
