There’s been a big jump in the number of active COVID-19 cases in Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
Public health, in a report covering the weekend, reported 93 new infections Monday.
With 38 recoveries the number of active cases is up to 256.
Forty-eight of the new infections were found in unvaccinated people and 42 in those who were fully vaccinated.
Most of the new cases, 37, were from Belleville, 24 from central Hastings County, and 19 were found in Quinte West. The others were spread around in Prince Edward County, Deseronto-Tyendinaga and northern Hastings County.
The number of people in hospital is down to six, but four of them are in intensive care.
Seventy-eight percent of Hastings-Prince Edward’s population five years of age and older have been fully vaccinated while 10,441 people have received a booster shot.
There were four new cases reported Monday in Northumberland.
The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit reported 15 active cases.
