The Belleville Senators gave head coach Troy Mann a nice gift to mark his 500th game as an AHL head coach.
It came in a 3-2 win over the Bruins in Providence.
Cedric Pare scored the winner at 16:49 of the third period as Belleville rallied for the win. It was Pare’s third of the year.
Andrew Agozzino scored a goal and assist with Lassi Thomson scoring the other.
Matt Murray stopped 26 shots for his first win of the season. Murray was making his second start to clearing waivers and being assigned to Belleville to work on his game. It’s expected Murray will rejoin the parent Ottawa Senators at some point this season.
The B-Sens are 2-0 on this four game road trip which continues in Lehigh Valley on Wednesday night.
Veteran NHL defenceman Michael Del Zotto could be in Belleville’s lineup for that game. The Ottawa Senators assigned Del Zotto and his $1.75 million salary to the B-Sens after he cleared waivers.
