It was not a great week for COVID-19 cases and outbreaks in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties last week.
The week saw increases in both across the region culminating in the highest single day total the area has seen since the start of the pandemic, over 200 active cases and 25 active outbreaks.
From Saturday, December 4 to Friday, December 10 there was a total of 162 new cases of COVID-19 reported by Hastings Prince Edward Public Health.
On Friday the health unit reported 38 new cases which is the most the area has seen in a single day.
Outbreaks continued to pop up with one at a school, one on a school bus, three at workplaces and one at a local pub.
In neighbouring Northumberland County the numbers have stayed relatively low.
The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit only reports on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and last week they reported just three on Monday, three on Wednesday and five on Friday for at total of 11.
