Drugs
On December 11, 2021 at 2:14 a.m., Belleville Police Service Officers were called to a parking lot in the city’s west end in regards to a loud disturbance. Officers arrived on scene and located two persons in an argument. A check of a female and a male confirmed both had warrants from other jurisdictions. A quantity of drugs was located after the arrest of the male. The 30-year-old female was turned over to the Ontario Provincial Police. As a result of the location of the drugs 37-year-old Kenneth Felker of Belleville was charged with possession of an opioid, possession of a methamphetamine and fail to comply with a probation order. He was released on an undertaking with court on January 10, 2022.
Breach of release order
On December 12, 2021 at 12:48 a.m., Belleville police were called to a west end city address regarding a possible theft. Police received information that the suspects had left in a vehicle. Responding police officers located and stopped the vehicle a short distance from the complainant’s address. During the investigation into the theft it was determined that the driver of the vehicle had provided a false name and was also breaching conditions of a release order not to be outside his residence. As a result, the 26-year-old Brockville resident was arrested for breaching his release conditions and held for bail.
Impaired
On December 12, 2021 at 2:07 a.m., Belleville police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle was located at a Front Street, Belleville restaurant. The driver of the vehicle refused to provide a roadside sample of his breath. As a result, the driver of the vehicle 33-year old Madoc resident Charlie Rodgers was charged with refusing a roadside demand and later released with a court date of January 13, 2022.
Break and Enter
On December 12, 2021 at 11:43 a.m., Belleville police attended at an address on Cannifton Road North in regards to a break and enter into a shed. The break-in occurred between December 10, 2021 and December 11, 2021. An unknown suspect entered a shed and attempted to enter the residence. The suspects were unable to enter the residence, however a chainsaw, a Raleigh bicycle, and some other tools were taken from the shed.
Theft from vehicle
On December 12, 2021 at 1:11 p.m., Belleville police received a complaint of a theft from a vehicle. The victim had parked their vehicle in a parking lot overnight between December 11 and 12. When the victim returned in the morning they notice that the vehicle had been entered. The victim reported that a backpack containing a wallet and laptop was removed. There are no suspects at this time.
Police remind citizens to ensure their vehicles are locked and remove any valuables.
Arrest on Warrants
On December 12, 2021 at 6:30 p.m., Belleville police while on patrol recognized a male driving on Station Street who was known to not have a licence. The vehicle was stopped and a further check of the male showed that he was wanted on outstanding warrants for possession of a narcotics, drive while prohibited, fail to attend court, and fail to attend for fingerprints. As a result, Shawn Chamber a 28-year-old Belleville resident was arrested on the warrants and held for a show cause hearing on December 13, 2021.
