There is a special weather statement in effect for the Bay of Quinte region.
According to Environment Canada, from Belleville all the way to Northumberland County, heavy rain and strong winds are expected beginning Friday into Saturday.
The rain is expected to start Friday evening and to be heavy at times overnight and into Saturday before temperatures drop sharply and light snow develops.
Between 20 and 45 millimetres of rain are expected by Saturday night and winds from 90 to 110 kilometres per hour are expected by the lake Saturday before easing Sunday.
The weather statement warns that damage to trees and the risk of power outages are possible due to the wind and that wind warnings are likely as the weather event draws closer.
