There may not have been an in-person Festival of Trees once again this year but that didn’t stop the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary from raising a lot of money for the hospital foundation.
The 2021 Festival of Trees online auction, held last month, raised $50,000 for the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation.
The money will go towards the purchase of a badly needed portable cardiac monitor for the Endoscopy Department.
On average, over 3,000 endoscopic procedures are performed each year at QHC PECMH.
Access to a portable cardiac monitor in the Endoscopy Department allows staff to support patients post-procedure by monitoring a wide range of vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, airway flow and pulse rate.
Lisa Mowbray, the hospital’s manager of patient services and site lead, says this diagnostic tool allows the medical team to diagnose concerns and determine best direction of care, particularly when a patient’s symptoms warrant closer monitoring.
