There’s been a bit of a change to the Salvation Army’s first ever drive-thru breakfast.
The event is still scheduled for this Saturday, December 11 from 10:30 to noon at the Salvation Army Church on Bridge Street West, but Christmas Kettle Coordinator Valerie Hennessey says they’ve made a change to the $15 ticket price.
“So we would just like to open it up and anyone who wants to come, just pay what you can. Enjoy your breakfast, enjoy the time together. Listen to the music. Meet with your friends, with proper COVID distancing, of course.”
Donations can be made as you drive up.
A complete hot breakfast will be served and Santa Claus will be available outside to greet people and take photos.
The Salvation Army Band will also be playing.
All proceeds will go toward the Christmas Kettle Campaign.
Hennessey says they are about one-third of the way to their $315,000 fundraising goal and are very thankful to the volunteers who man the kettles and to everyone who donates.
“That is what helps keep this building and the programs downtown here on Pinnacle Street going. Feeding people, the food bank, the street nurse, Coats for Folks, that king of thing that we’re able to provide.”
The Kettle Campaign runs until December 24 at noon.
