A Belleville councillor is hoping there’s a way to help local residents buying a new home in the city to receive some financial help.
Councillor Kelly McCaw asked for a staff report exploring any options that might be available to help residents now that council will almost double development charges on new houses.
Development charges are ultimately paid for by the buyer of the new home.
McCaw believes high and rising demand by speculators and other buyers from outside the region is pricing local residents out of the market.
