Two people from Napanee have been charged after a gun was discharged towards a home last month.
Lennox and Addington OPP have charged 31-year-old Doug Huff and 22-year-old Tarone Whalen, both of Greater Napanee, with discharging a firearm in a reckless manner, mischief, careless use of a firearm and possession for a dangerous purpose.
An investigation thus far indicates that at roughly 7:52 a.m. on November 22, a black pickup truck, thought to be a black Dodge Ram, was seen on Isabella Street East in front of the residence. A loud noise, consistent with the sound of a firearm, was heard at the time. The pickup truck left the area immediately afterward. The vehicle of interest was captured on video nearby the scene.
As well, a search warrant was executed at a residence in Greater Napanee where items were seized as evidence in the investigation. Investigators credit information received from the public as instrumental in the investigation and thank everyone who contacted police.
Whalen has been charged additionally with:
· Careless storage of ammunition; and
· Four counts of fail to comply with undertaking; and also
· Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
Huff was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on January 4, 2022.
Whalen was held in custody for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on December 9.
