Belleville’s Planning Advisory Committee will be making a recommendation on what’s become a controversial issue surrounding a home business in the city’s west end Monday.
City staff is recommending the committee say no to a rezoning request that would allow a small vending machine business to continue to operate at 57 Octavia Street.
The eight machines are under a lean-to structure along a home’s driveway and have been operating 24 hours a day for almost four years, but are in contravention of the city’s Official Plan and several zoning by-laws.
The city received 17 comments from the public. Twelve were in support of property owner Juan Hernandez and five against.
The detailed staff report starts on page 288 of the committee’s agenda.
Belleville’s Planning Advisory Committee meets Monday at 5:30.
