Jett Alexander is a name some in local hockey circles may have known before last night, however, he is now known by hockey fans across the world.
Alexander, who was born in Prince Edward County and began his minor hockey there, suited up for the warm-ups for the Colorado Avalanche last night before their game with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The University of Toronto student/athlete was called in to take shots after Darcy Kuemper went down to injury. He played in the OJHL, the same league as the team he would have grown up watching, the Wellington Dukes.
He took shots in warm-up, got tapped on the pads by the likes of Nathan Mackinnon, and skated around next to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Justus Annunen arrived by plane from the Colorado Eagles (AHL) and relieved Alexander from his duties on the bench.
It was, perhaps, a once in a lifetime for the county boy.
