The provincial government is taking concrete action to make driving an electric vehicle more convenient for drivers in Ontario.
The Minister of Energy and MPP for Bay of Quinte riding Todd Smith says a minimum of two electric vehicle charging stations will be installed in all 23 ONroute locations along Highways 401 and 400.
“we know that people have a bit of range anxiety when they are driving their EV’s (electric vehicles) so this is going to provide a little more certainty to them and you know we’re looking to locate them at all 23 ONroutes.”
It’s expected charging stations at the Trenton, Napanee, and Port Hope ONroute centres will be operating by sometime next summer.
The move is seen as an encouragement for people to switch to electric vehicles.
Besides the provincial government, the other partners in the agreement are ONroute, Ivy, and Canadian Tire.
