Some local banks are going head to head for a good cause.
The first annual Battle of the Banks Food Drive in support of Gleaners Food Bank is happening at three Belleville branches.
RBC Branch Manager Stephanie Barnhardt says she was inspired to find a way to help after a recent visit to the food bank.
“So I reached out to my colleagues, or I guess my competitors on North Front Street and challenged CIBC up the road, Sandra, and Nicholas at TD. And they both were more than willing to jump on board and battle it out between the banks and see who can get the most donations.”
All three banks will be collecting donations of food and hygiene products until December 17.
Gleaners Director of Operations Susanne Quinlan says the food bank is also benefitting from a recent food drive by the Hastings County EMS Workers which raised 2,300 kilograms of food and $2,500.
