Belleville police had a busy Saturday and Sunday responding to a 115 calls for service.
Youth Arrested for Domestic Assault
On November 27, 2021, police were called to a Farnham Road residence for complaints of a male youth smashing things. Upon police arrival the male ran out the rear of the home and was located a short time later in a backyard shed. As a result of investigation into the incident a fifteen-year-old male Belleville resident was charged with Domestic Assault, Mischief, Utter Threats to cause bodily harm and Breach of a Recognizance. The male was later released. The name of the youth is not being released in compliance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act and to protect the identity of the victim.
Two Individuals Arrested on Warrants
On November 28, 2021 at 12:32 a.m., police were called to an east end city address to remove a tent from a local business parking lot. Officers spoke with the female that erected the tent and determined she was wanted on multiple arrest warrants for Fail to Appear in Court and Assault. As a result, the female thirty-five-year-old, Vanessa Brunke, was arrested for the warrants and held for a show cause hearing on November 28, 2021.
On November 28, 2021 at 11:08 p.m., Belleville police were contacted by the Napanee area OPP and informed that they had a female in custody wanted by Belleville police for Breach of Probation. Twenty-five-year-old Belleville resident Sarah McKeown was transported to Belleville and held for a show cause hearing on November,29, 2021.
Two area Break and Enters
On November 28, 2021, police were called to an apartment building under construction in the city’s east end. It was determined by video surveillance that sometime around 2:00 a.m., a lone male entered a storage trailer within the building and stole various tools including skill saws, power drills and grinders. The estimated value of the stolen tools is $5000 to $6000. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact Belleville Police or Crime Stoppers.
In a second Break and Enter police were called to a Farnham Road Business at 4:20 a.m. Several packages within the building were open and unknown items inside the packages were stolen.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
On November 28, 2021 during a thirteen-hour period beginning at 3:00 a.m. and ending at 4:00 p.m. the Belleville Police Service responded to twelve motor vehicle collisions. Several resulted in minor injuries. Belleville police again remind residents to take extra care when driving in winter weather.
