An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at Queen Elizabeth Public School in Belleville but the school remains open.
The Hastings Prince Edward District School Board reports five students in two classes at the school have tested positive.
In a tweet Thursday afternoon, the school board says Hastings Prince Edward Public Health has declared an outbreak at the school, but determined it is safe for staff and students to attend with enhanced sanitation and infection control measures in place.
Those measures include requiring students to stay in their cohorts during recess and breaks outdoors and restricting non-essential visitors.
Students and staff identified as close contacts are being contacted directly about what steps to take.
All staff and students are being advised to closely monitor for symptoms and seek testing if even any minor symptoms develop.
The public school board also reported single cases of the virus Thursday at Trenton High School and Frankford Public School.
