Two rolling blockades showing support for the Wet’suwet’en First Nation in British Columbia have been making their way along Highway 401 Wednesday.
The blockades are supporting the Hereditary Chiefs of the Wet’suwet’en First Nation who are trying to stop a pipeline from being built through their territory
As a result, there have been some traffic disruptions on both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 401.
One demonstration was travelling west from Akwsasne with the other headed east from Six Nations.
The convoys are meeting at the Tyendinaga Pow Wow grounds.
Protests have been held in several areas recently including Kingston and Hamilton.
The Ontario Provincial Police say they’ll work to maintain an orderly flow of traffic to allow demonstrators to protest in a safe manner.
