A matching campaign has raised more than $183,000 for the Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward’s It Takes Heart Campaign in support of a new shelter.
In October, the Jasper and Sampson Matching Campaign saw municipal councillors from Belleville and Quinte West and Humane Society volunteers going door-to-door to raise awareness about HSHPE’s new facility.
The first $50,000 in gifts received during the month were matched by Ralph Johnston and Tony Martin, owners of beloved dogs Jasper and Samson, who were the mascots of the month-long campaign.
The matching campaign received a number of generous donations from local individuals and businesses to raise a total of $183,320.
The new shelter is currently under construction at 34 Wallbridge-Loyalist Road.
Individuals interested in learning more about the new shelter are encouraged to visit ItTakesHeart.ca or contact J-C D’Amours, Capital Campaign Manager at jcdamours@humancesocietyhpe.ca or 613-813-1917.
