The owners of Picton Terminals say they’ve been carrying on business as usual since dropping an appeal of a Prince Edward County Council decision that will keep them from expanding services at the shipping port.
The Doornekamp family issued a statement last month saying it would drop the appeal of council’s decision against zoning changes.

“No matter what happened in the appeal we were talking about a very small portion of our property anyway so, even if we went to appeal and we lost, we’d still have our legal non-conforming use so everything would just continue as it was before virtually, or as it is now.”
Doornekamp says they will continue to look for opportunities to expand but are focussing on the business they have now.
“We’re always looking at opportunities, we’re always looking to further our, or better our efficiency levels. Whether that’s expanding, whether that’s transitioning to something different. We’re always looking for opportunities.”
The Doornekamp family had hoped to expand docking for large tour boats and create more storage area for dry goods.
