Belleville police are investigating serious incidents of vandalism at two city cemeteries.
At one o’clock Thursday morning police responded to Elmwood Cemetery on River Road north of Cannifton.
About 255 headstones had been spray-painted.
And Tuesday police were called to St. James Roman Catholic Cemetery in the west end where about 200 gravestones had been painted.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Belleville Police Service at 613-966-0882 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
It’s not known if the Belleville incidents were connected in any way to vandalism at four Quinte West cemeteries late last month.
About 75 headstones were defaced at that time.
