Construction numbers for last month in the City of Belleville are down compared to the same month last year.
Last month there were 80 permits issued at total construction value of $9,719,746.
About $6.5 million of that total came from permits for 22 new residential units of various types.
As far as commercial construction goes, one permit worth $600,000 was issued for renovations at 290 North Front Street, the location of the former Little Texas bar.
In October of last year there were fewer permits issued at 63 but a higher total value at close to $13.4 million, mostly due to $6.5 million in industrial activity.
The total amount of construction value at this point in the year is actually slightly higher than it was at this point in 2020.
By October’s end last year the total value of construction in the city was $82,274,063.74 whereas the year-to-date value in 2021 totalled $85,247,331.04.
