OPP ONLINE REPORTING SYSTEM
Easy and Convenient Way to Report Minor Crimes
The OPP remind everyone of the OPP Online Reporting System. It’s easy and convenient to report minor crimes. In a life-threatening emergency, always call 911.
The system was expanded to include the ability to report criminal occurrences online regardless of value. Online Reporting provides another way for citizens to report crimes that are not emergencies, but that fall under specific parameters, including:
• Theft
• Mischief / Damage to Property
• Mischief / Damage to Vehicle
• Theft from Vehicle
• Lost / Missing Property
• Stolen License Plates
• Driving Complaints
A comprehensive list is available at opp.ca/reporting. In each case, the occurrence must not involve an injury, have a suspect or include evidence at the scene. An officer will attend, if requested.
An increased use of Online Reporting will allow frontline officers to focus efforts on high priority incidents and proactive work. It will also provide police with an accurate understanding of crime in our communities by mapping and analyzing crime data to ensure the proper resources are being used for proactive and prevention initiatives.
Use of Online Reporting is completely optional, but it will be strongly suggested if the crime fits the specific parameters.
The OPP is continually striving to improve efficiency in processes and service delivery. The effective use of technology is helping the OPP maintain its high level of service to the public.
