The Belleville Senators were waiting for their offence to kick in and last night it did.
The B-Sens jumped out to a 4-0 second period lead and carried on for a 7-3 win over the visiting Rochester Americans. Belleville had scored a total of 8 goals in their previous four games.
After being held pointless in his first four games winger Igor Sokolov broke out with a two goal to assist night. Rookie defenceman Jacob Bernard-Docker staked Belleville to a 2-0 first period lead with his first two goals in professional hockey.
Jake Luccini added a goal and two assists with singles from Andrew Agozzino and Colby Williams. Kevin Mandolese turned aside 30 shots in a game that often got chippy in the third period which could set the table for a rematch in Rochester next Wednesday November 3.
Before that the B-Sens have a home-at-home with the Toronto Marlies. Toronto makes their first appearance at CAA Arena Friday night at 7:05. Belleville returns the visit Saturday afternoon at 4:00. CJBQ 800 will have full coverage of all games.
