A collision on Highway 401 in Quinte West Monday afternoon resulted in charges against both the driver and passenger of one of the vehicles.
Quinte West OPP responded around 3:15 p.m. to a report of a pickup truck striking a tractor trailer between Wallbridge Loyalist Road and Aikins Road.
The pickup driver left the scene, driving away a heavily damaged vehicle that was missing a wheel.
Officers located the damaged pickup truck and the occupants approximately 15 km away on Miron Road.
The driver and a passenger were subsequently arrested for various offences.
Police located a small quantity of suspected fentanyl while searching the driver.
Forty-year-old Douglas McGregor of Brighton was charged with:
- Dangerous operation
- Fail to stop after accident
- Operation while prohibited under the criminal code
- Obstruct peace officer
- Possession of Fentanyl
McGregor was held for a bail hearing Tuesday.
Thirty-three-year-old Michelle Hodgson of Brighton was charged with obstruct peace officer and two counts of failure to comply with a release order and was released with a December court date.
