Belleville police responded to 56 calls for service between 5 a.m. on Octover 23, 2021 and 5 a.m. on October 24, 2021.
Collision
On October 23, 2021 at 10:50 a.m., Belleville police were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Dufferin Avenue and Dundas Street East. No injuries were reported, but one of the vehicles was not driveable. As a result of the investigation a 34-year-old Belleville resident was charged with failing to stop for a red light.
Public Intoxication
On October 23, 2021 at 9:20 p.m., Belleville Police and Fire were dispatched to the east end of the city for a bush party with campfire in a wooded area. A group of persons dispersed upon police arrival and the fire was extinguished. One male remained and was found hiding nearby. It was determined that he was heavily intoxicated and was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. The 26-year-old is being held until deemed sober.
Assault
On October 24, 2021 just after 2 a.m., city police were called to a downtown establishment regarding an assault. Through investigation, police learned that a male believed to have suffered minor injuries was transported to Belleville General Hospital. The suspect had fled the scene prior to police arriving, but was arrested a short time later. Twenty-six-year-old Brandon Johnson of Belleville was charged with two counts of assault. He will appear in court on December 2.
