The Trenton Golden Hawks have yet to add a loss to the column so far this season as they moved to 9-0 with a win over the Mississauga Chargers Friday night.
Trenton played host to the Chargers coming off a 7-5 win over the Caledon Admirals on Thursday.
The Golden Hawks continued their trend of scoring early in games when defenceman Nathan Oickle netted one just one-and-a-half minutes into the first period with assists from Lucas Robinson and Aaron Jameison.
It wasn’t until late in the first that Trenton added to the lead when with under two minutes left, forward Matthew Cato and, shortly after, new addition defenceman Parker Petruniak scored to make it 3-0 Trenton.
Just before the end of the first period Trenton forward Stephen McDonald was sent to the showers with a game misconduct for checking from behind.
The second period would prove to be a defensive battle as neither team was able to score until late in the frame when Chargers forward Owen Sclisizzi found the back of the net past Trenton goalie Ethan Taylor.
Just 45 seconds into the third period Oickle struck again to make it 4-0 for Trenton.
The Golden Hawks pressed and added two more goals before the final buzzer, efforts from Jordan Fuller and Jake Campbell, for a final score of 6-1.
The win brought the Golden Hawks, who were crowned top team in the country earlier this week, to 9-0 on the year.
Oickle, Fuller, Campbell and captain Dalton Bancroft managed two points each in the effort with Bancroft extending his team lead in points to 19 on the year.
Taylor was credited with his fourth win on the season for his efforts with 27 saves on 28 shots while Trenton fired 46 of their own.
Trenton will look to move into double digit wins on Tuesday when they take on the Toronto Junior Canadiens with the puck dropping at 10:30 a.m.
