An Oakville man is facing charges after police say he tried to extort an ex-partner for money.
Police say on October 13, 2021 they began an investigation after a Belleville resident said an ex-partner had been threatening and trying to extort money from them.
Police issued a warrant for the 33-year-old Oakville man’s arrest and on Friday he was arrested by Halton Police in Oakville.
As a result the man was charged with extortion and uttering threats to cause death.
He was held for a bail hearing on Saturday in Belleville.
The names of all people involved have been witheld to protect the victim.
