There could be another change in the way voters in the Municipality of Brighton will be able to cast their ballots in next year’s local election.
Monday, at a regular meeting, Brighton council will see a staff report recommending that voting by telephone be dropped as a voting option, leaving only voting by internet available for voters.
A consultant’s report showed numerous issues with telephone voting including confusion and complexity due to long lists of candidates.
On average less than 5% of voters have been using the telephone option in the province.
With the voting by internet option, the municipality would set up voting kiosks in various locations to assist people who don’t have the technology at home to vote in that manner.
