Preliminary decisions are being made toward the replacement of a major railway overpass on County Road 40, otherwise known as Wooler Road, in Quinte West.
The city’s Corporate Finance Committee is recommending council go ahead with the full replacement of the bridge along with foundation widening that would allow a widening of the road to four lanes in the future.
This was the most expensive of a handful options presented to the committee by consulting engineers Tuesday afternoon at $5.2 million.
Quinte West council had already set aside $5 million in its 2022 capital budget for the overpass project.
The bridge crosses both CN and CPR tracks south of Highway 401.
