There was quite a jump in the number of COVID-19 cases reported in Hastings and Prince Edward counties since the health unit’s last report on Friday.
Twenty new infections were reported Tuesday. Those cases, with nine recoveries factored in, brings the total number of active cases in the two counties to 35.
Sixteen of the new cases were in unvaccinated people.
Ten of the new cases were found in Belleville, five in Tyendinaga/Deseronto, two in central Hastings and one each in north Hastings and Quinte West.
There are now three COVID outbreaks with the latest being at Tyendinaga Public School affecting two people.
Two people are in hospital with COVID-19, one of them in intensive care.
The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit, also reporting for the first time since Friday, says there were 11 new cases in Northumberland on Tuesday.
Thirteen cases are active.
