Whatever Trenton Golden Hawks coach Peter Goulet said to his team during the second intermission, it worked.
After trailing 5-1 early in the third the G-Hawks reeled off four straight goals in 4:47 on their way to a huge 7-5 comeback win over the Cougars in Cobourg. Matthew Cato scored the game winning goal at 9:15 of the third period.
Aiden McIntosh scored twice. Jake Campbell (short handed) had a goal and two assists and Dalton Bancroft added 3 assists.
Stephen McDonald (power play), Jake LaVille (power play) and Robinson Lucas (empty net) also scored for the Golden Hawks.
Cobourg outshot Trenton 37-36.
Trenton improves to 5-0 to begin the OJHL season. They play in Wellington Friday night.
Before then the Dukes have two road games on their schedule. Tonight (Tues) they’re in Lindsay and tomorrow they’re in North York.
Meanwhile the Golden Hawks have jumped 3 spots on the weekly Canadian Junior Hockey League rankings.
Trenton moves up to third place in the country. The rankings were announced before their game in Cobourg.
The Ottawa Junior “A” Senators are number one.
