The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte say there are now six active cases of COVID-19 in the community.
Four of the cases are in students at Quinte Mohawk School, however, in a statement issued Tuesday evening, officials said that an outbreak has not been declared there.
The Community Health Nurse in Charge, in co-operation with Hastings Prince Edward Public Health, says that due to the many safety precautions in place, the transmission of COVID-19 is unlikely within Quinte Mohawk School.
Officials ask people to continue to abide by public safety measures and get vaccinated if they have not already done so.
In consideration of the new COVID cases within the community, MBQ is encouraging people to rethink any travel plans for the Thanksgiving weekend and instead celebrate with their immediate household.
There have been a total of 20 positive cases, including one death on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory since the pandemic began.
