The Mayor of Stirling-Rawdon says a new Hastings-Quinte paramedic base planned for the municipality will be a huge boost to ambulance services in several communities.
Bob Mullin made the comment after an update on plans for the paramedic base from Chief of Emergency Services for Hastings County Doug Socha at Stirling-Rawdon council Monday night.
The base will be built right next to the Stirling-Rawdon municipal offices and fire hall on municipal land donated to Hastings County.
The Stirling-Rawdon location was chosen as best out of nine possible locations. Mayor Mullin says the location is good not only for response times but is advantageous because the building will be on municipal water and sewage systems.
The $3.5 million paramedic base will improve service to residents in Stirling-Rawdon, Centre Hastings, and Marmora and Lake, and provide backup for Belleville and Quinte West.
It’s hoped the new base will be open in the spring of 2023.
