The developers of a six-storey apartment building along Belleville’s Station Street, now nearing completion, hope to cut back commercial space on the ground floor to add 30 apartment units, but for a specific clientele.
Developers KGF Capital Realty hope to partner with Addictions and Mental Health Services to provide temporary housing for people who are leaving hospital but waiting for a spot in the long term care system.
Capital Realty’s Kent Randall says part of the plan includes an office and medical clinic.
“Whereby you’d have examination rooms and treatment rooms, treatment for the people who are using the units.”
The developers need a rezoning of the property to add the apartments and clinic and the city’s planning staff will bring a recommendation report to a future meeting of the Planning Advisory Committee.
It’s hoped construction on the main part of the building at 235 Station Street containing 103 apartments and some commercial space will be done by the beginning of February.
