The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two individuals following a motor vehicle collision.
On September 28, 2021, at approximately 7:40 p.m., Quinte West OPP responded to a single vehicle collision on Preston Hill Road in Quinte West. Police learned that a passenger of the vehicle had left the scene of the collision prior to their arrival. The OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT) were called in and conducted a search. The passenger was located uninjured and was arrested on outstanding warrants. The driver, a 44 year old male from Cobourg, completed a Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) and as a result had their license suspended for three days. He was charged with careless driving and operating a motor vehicle with no insurance and was released with a summons to attend court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville at a later date.
Shannon HOWITT, 40 years old of Quinte West has been charged with the following:
- Failure to comply with undertaking – two counts;
- Failure to comply with probation – two counts; and
- Failure to attend court after having appeared
The accused was held in custody and was scheduled to appear for bail at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on September 29, 2021.
