The preliminaries are over and for the first time in more than 18 months local junior hockey teams will play meaningful games.
The curtain goes up on the Ontario Junior Hockey League season in Wellington and Trenton tonight (Friday).
The Dukes are home to the Mississauga Chargers while the Golden Hawks host the Cobourg Cougars. Both games at 7:30.
Except for a few exhibition games, the entire OJHL season was wiped out by COVID last season.
If you plan to attend the games you should probably go a little earlier as proof of vaccination will be required for admittance.
Both teams are on the road tomorrow. Wellington plays at Cobourg while Trenton travels to Mississauga.
The new Provincial Junior “C” hockey season also begins tonight (Fri) with the Napanee Raiders home to the Amherstview Jets at 7:30 at the Strathcona Paper Centre.
Tomorrow night (Sat) the newest franchise, the Frankford Huskies will host the Picton Pirates while the Campbellford Rebels are home to the Port Hope Panthers.
