City of Belleville planning department staff are recommending that rezoning of land at 240 Bethel Road be approved to allow the construction of three small tourist cabins.
One such cabin already exists on the mostly wooded 36 hectares of property that is also the location of a Christmas tree farm and maple sugar bush.
Some residents were concerned about noise and traffic but staff say the development’s small size and location in the woods shouldn’t cause problems. Also guests won’t be allowed to operate ATVs or snowmobiles.
Staff believe the development will promote rural tourism.
Belleville’s Planning Advisory Committee meets Monday at 5:30 and can be seen on the city’s YouTube site.
