The generosity continues to flow to Hospice Quinte’s new Stan Klemencic Care Centre.
The beds at the new centre will be adorned by beautiful, custom-made quilts, a project spearheaded by Hospice Quinte volunteer and owner/operator of County Bus Service, Shelby MacPherson.
With the help of fellow quilters Terri Morris and Fun with Stitches co-owner, Darlene Crellin, the trio completed nine one-of-a-kind bedspreads.
MacPherson and her team began the project by seeking out local sponsors to cover the approximately $6,300 in hard costs.
The quilts, which each took roughly 70 hours to make, were designed based on the traditional ‘Log Cabin’ pattern which represents life itself.
MacPherson says, “It’s been a labour of love for our team and worth every bit of the effort knowing that these quilts will comfort people in need during their final stage of life.”
Donors to the project include County Bus Service staff, Franklin Coach Lines, Richmond School Coach, Beaudrie Bus Lines and company owners Randy and Lisa Beaudrie, Dave and Colleen DeMille, Free Flow Petroleum, the Family of Betty DeMille and Robert & Shelby MacPherson.
Hospice Quinte will also be holding the grand opening and ribbon cutting for the Stan Klemencic Care Centre on Wednesday.
