Brown and Bauer Split The Wins
The local Bayside Trailblazers held their first National dirt track racing event since 1992, sanctioned by Flat Track Canada this past weekend at Shannonville Motorsport Park.
The 1/3 limestone track was in perfect condition with a few days of rain and expert track grooming providing the perfect surface. Dozens of riders in the many different classes, including 4-wheelers, took to the BTB track and provided some excellent racing for the many fans that came out to watch.
DTX Expert leader, Dustin Brown looked to take the big win, however after getting a great start, he was quickly sent backwards as a hard charging group of competitors worked hard for a chance at a top step podium finish. Hunter Bauer was quick to take over the lead and led the remainder of the contest for a runaway win.
Bauer also came out with guns ablazing for the premier Open Expert event. Bauer got a great start and took off in the lead with a large field of competitors in chase. After leading for 17 laps, Bauer had to give up the lead and the win to class leader Dustin Brown. Bauer had to settle for a well-earned second place finish.
The next and final event of the season for Flat Track Canada will take place at Hiawatha Horse Park, Sarnia, on October 2.
