An architectural millwork company’s grand opening in Campbellford today came with the announcement that the province is providing $2.6 million to expand the new facility.
Mirmil Products Limited relocated from Quinte West to the 165,000 square foot former Dart Cup plant earlier this year.
It is one of a handful of highly specialized architectural millwork companies in North America.
The provincial funding is being delivered through the Forest Sector Investment and Innovation Program and will help Mirmil Products expand operations, invest in new technology, and recruit more than 30 skilled workers to meet a growing demand for its products and services.
Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade says this will help Mirmil fulfill large-scale commercial projects across North America and have significant positive impacts in Campbellford and the surrounding region.
Mirmil president Travis Walker says the funding will help the company increase its capabilities, allowing it to continue to represent South Eastern Ontario in some of the largest and most complex construction projects in the world.
Also attending today’s grand opening and announcement were Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini, Bay of Quinte MPP and Minister of Energy Todd Smith and Greg Rickford, Minister of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry.
