Pirates drop close OT decision with Raiders
The Picton Pirates finished off their pre-season with a close loss to the Napanee Raiders last night.
Napanee scored early in overtime to take the 2-1 win, despite an earlier power play goal from Derrick Vos and 37 saves from Nolan Lane in net.
The Pirates are set to open their 32nd Ontario Jr. C season on Saturday October 2 in Frankford, against the expansion Huskies.
Dukes dump Cougars
The Wellington Dukes improved their exhibition record to three wins and two losses, following a 5-1 win over the Cobourg Cougars last night.
Harrison Ballard scored twice for the Dukes, with Ethan Morrow putting up a strong performance in net, as Wellington was outshot 28-21.
Barrett Joynt, Jacob Vreugdenhil and Mason Reeves also scored for the Dukes, who will face off with the Cougars in one more pre-season clash on Monday, in Cobourg.
Wellington opens the 2021-22 season at home to the Mississauga Chargers, on Friday October 1.
G-Hawks fall in to Muskies in double OT
The Trenton Golden Hawks dropped the first half of a pre-season home-and-home series with the Lindsay Muskies on Friday.
Boyd Stahlbahm scored the winner in the second overtime, his second goal of the game, to help the Muskies to a 3-2 victory.
Will Jones had the other marker for Lindsay, while Matt Cato and JD Shoniker scored for Trenton.
The two teams will wrap their exhibition schedule on Sunday, when they meet again at the Duncan McDonald Community Gardens, at 3 p.m.
